Siege of Ypres, 6-25 June 1744

The Dutch fortress of Ypres was besieged by French on 6 June 1744 & capitulated on the terms of free passage to Breda on 25 June 1744.
French army under marshal Noailles composed of 50 battalions & 47 squadrons (Pajol, vol. III, p. 336).
Infantry: Gardes Francaises et Suisses (5), de Noailles (3), du Roi (4), Piemont (4), Touraine (3), Irlandais (5), Rohan (4), Couronne (4), Artois (4), Orleans (4), Gondrin (2), Bourbonnais (4), Royal (4)
Cavalry: Maison du Roi (13), Dragons-mestre-de-camp General (5), Egmont (5), brigade de Berry (7), Royal (7), Royal Dragons (5), de Suse Dragons (5),

Dutch garrison. The governor general Cronstrom was absent. Garrison commandant was general-lieutenant prince Hesse-Philipsthal, his deputy was colonel Lely. Garrison consisted of one battalion Cronstrom Infantry, three battalion of Constant (Swiss), 5 coys de Brackel Infantry, & the 3rd squadron of Hesse-Philipsthal Cavalry.
