In 1684 Saxony agreed to provide 3 regiments on
Venetian service: Oberst Hans Rudolph von Schonfeld (he also was a commander of
entire Saxon contingent), Oberst Hans Bernhard von Loppau (Luppau, Loppauer),
Oberst Georg von Kleist. The first was in red coats, the rest – in gray. Each
regiment was of 10 coys, totaled 1004 men. Regimental staff was of 7 persons: Oberst,
Oberstleutnant, Oberstwachmeister, Auditeur, Profos, Feldscher, Feldprediger. Company

respectively.
1/3 of each company were armed with pikes, the rest
– musketeers.
List of regimental officers:
Saxon troops participated in the actions at
Kalamata (4/9/1685), Navarin (9/6/1686), Moron (27/6/1686), Napoli di Romania
(19/8/1686). Troops heavily suffered from a disease & numbered only 761 men
in September of 1687. Saxons returned home in the spring of 1688.
