Jakob Kettler, Duke of Courland, Foot 1653

Konstantin Gorski mentioned a Polish Foot under Jakob of Courland in 1653 in the camp near Zwanec. It consisted of 8 coys & numbered about 600 men (531 privates). I don't find any mention of it in Wimmer's works. In 1654 evidently it disappeared from the Roll of Crown army.

  1. Actually Jan Wimmer mentioned this regiment - 'ks. kurlandzkiego' - serving from 4th quarter of 1652 untill 4th quarter of 1653. Initially with 1000 portions, last quarter had only 402 portions. You can find it in 'Materiały do zagadnienia organizacji i liczebności armii koronnej 1648-1655;, it's regiment no 15 in list of 'foreign infantry'.
