On the old gravure by Hondius from 1636 that depicts the Russian-Polish war on Smolensk 1632-1634, there is a small river north of retrenchement flowing into Stabna, may be it is that small river Nova Voda as mentioned in Polish sourcesleliwahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18375831732134406823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1007632461892109454.post-30356484586982116852011-08-18T23:27:40.056+04:002011-08-18T23:27:40.056+04:00You are right about Ganskop's Corps. Evidently Ganskop had the whole regiment plus 13 Cossacks choragwies & a reitar coy.Gromoboyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14513137327707308631noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1007632461892109454.post-7076298097169599512011-08-18T15:26:38.739+04:002011-08-18T15:26:38.739+04:00It could be that majority of Gantzkopf's banne...It could be that majority of Gantzkopf's banners were not light but cossacks. Lithuanian army at that time just didn't have 13 light (Tatars) banners so he had to take cossack banners instead. But there is another possible theory, that part of his force was composed of Tatars' volunteers who in large numbers joined Lithuanian army at that time.
Looking at number of dragoons' companies it could be whole Janusz Radziwill's regiment or even companies from other regiment/s as well, as at that time hetman's regiment was only 200-portions strong (so rather two companies not four, unless they were really small).
Sadly no info how many companies/banners of reiters were present but I would risk to claim that some companies from hetman's strong regiment were presentKadrinazihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04790146874809445505noreply@blogger.com
